During my employment as the Program Assistant to the Keystones to Opportunity Grant at Lancaster-Lebanon IU 13, I participated in several aspects of planning and reporting associated with the federal grant. Pennsylvania was one of only six states to be awarded federal dollars to support literacy from Birth-Grade 12. Pennsylvania's grant totaled $38.6 million. While 95% of the funding was distributed directly to the awarded LEA's, 5% was designated for state leadership. It was this 5% budget that I managed. This budget included salaries and benefits, statewide activities and professional developments, materials and supplies, etc.
Having the opportunity to work on the back end of a federal grant has been one of the most valuable experiences. As a grant reader, it is clear that what may seem like "small" mistakes to the applicant can be big deterrents to those reviewing the application. I have also learned that while some grants are flexible, many grants are strict in what funding may be used for, and therefore, not all grants are for everyone and in no way is it "free money". Grants are commitments.

This document is a Powerpoint that was created by me and presented to a group of Reading Specialists from 22 different school districts at their monthly meeting at Intermediate Unit 13. The director of the meeting asked that I create a presentation sharing various web resources that are available that may support the Reading Specialists. This Powerpoint is organized into categories for easier reference. This Powerpoint was shared on the Reading Specialists Sharepoint.
While there are many presentation tools available, I chose to create a Powerpoint since I knew I would be sharing this presentation with all participants. Many participants are familiar with Powerpoint and it may be saved as a PDF document if desired. This presentation address the needs of both elementary and secondary Reading Specialists.

During my Independent Study for Instructional Technology Administration (K-12), I examined an Educational Technology Report. This document is the Educational Technology Report for Warwick School District. I chose to examine this district because it employs a Bring-Your-Own-Device (BYOD) policy and is a local district.
Examining the Educational Technology Report helped me see not only the items that were currently in place to support technology integration, but the projected plans for further technology incorporation within the district. I greatly appreciated viewing the plans specifics such as who would work to accomplish each goal.
