During my Independent Study for Instructional Technology Administration (K-12), I examined an Educational Technology Report. This document is the Educational Technology Report for Warwick School District. I chose to examine this district because it employs a Bring-Your-Own-Device (BYOD) policy and is a local district.
Examining the Educational Technology Report helped me see not only the items that were currently in place to support technology integration, but the projected plans for further technology incorporation within the district. I greatly appreciated viewing the plans specifics such as who would work to accomplish each goal.

This video was created using a combination of Powerpoint and Windows Movie Maker. This video was used during my employment at Lebanon Middle School. This video emphasizes the importance to stand up to bullying. I felt showing a video was much more effective then lecturing to students about the topic. I think the music and pictures had an emotional impact on the students viewing the clip.
This document demonstrates my understanding of digital tools as well as movie production software. These tools, while not purely educational, were used to create an educational product. All images were found using Creative Commons licensing and the music for the clip was used with permission from the record label.

This document links to my Edmodo profile. Edmodo is a social network for students and teachers. Currently all of my 4th, 5th, and 6th grade students participate in Edmodo. Students are organized according to their graduation year and can also collaborate from students in their grade from other elementary schools in the district. Edmodo is used outside of scheduled class time for extension activities. Occasionally I will survey the class, or post information about new books in the library.
This document demonstrates my knowledge of electronic networking tools available on the Internet. Students participate in a unit on Digital Citizenship prior to being enrolled in Edmodo and can put their knowledge to practice as they communicate online. Edmodo also features "communities" in which I can participate on a professional level with other colleagues in sharing best tools and practices.

While most tech integrators focus on the "high-tech" products and software available, it is important to recognize the impact of "low-tech" items. As a K-6 librarian, I teach every student. This includes students with special needs. Currently I have 5 students with both intellectual and mobility limitations. While all 5 of these students attend classes with the support of an instructional aide, it is still my responsibility to ensure that their visit in the library is the best possible. This includes wearing special microphones for students with hearing limitations, and assisting students with visual impairments to use their magnifying boards. The artifact inclosed was composed in ITC 520 examining learning differences.
One of the incredible benefits of technology integration in the classroom is the ability to differentiate lessons for individual students with special needs with lesser effort on the part of the teacher. Yet, not only special needs students benefit from these options. Many students without special needs take advantages of the simple changes that can be made on digital products. For example, text size, contrast, volume, and many other features that are specific to certain software can be easily adjusted by the student to fit their individual needs.

As a conclusive project in ITC 425, students were asked to compose a report discussing characteristics of effective educational networks. This report outlines the who, what, where, when and how of designing effective networks designed for the educational sector. This report overviews cost, personnel, hardware, software, and policy issues driving the purchase and selection of materials needed to support an educational network.
ITC 425 explored many of the "back end" work that goes into creating and maintaining an effective network for educational institutions. What was most enlightening to me were the many legal considerations that impact decision makers on this end. As an educator and librarian, I was well aware of the legislation that directly impact me and my student, but was a bit ignorant to the legalities that surrounded the hardware used within a school district.

As a school librarian with a proven mastery of technology, teachers have the ability to request assistance via a Technology Ticket system. Tech tickets are used for various departments within the school district. There is a specific ticket for Library Services, where all of the librarians in the district are administrators. This document displays screenshots of the various facets of the software used to respond to tech tickets.
As an elementary librarian that travels between buildings, I find that the ticket system greatly helps me connect with the teachers in both of my buildings, even on the days I am not physically present. As the year progressed and teachers learned about my technology background, more tickets began surfacing for technology related issues.
